Services: categories, options, duration, buffers and deposits

Updated 2026-09-16

1. The service card

Under "Services" each service has a name, description, category (free text — the list is grouped by it), duration, buffer, price and an "active" flag. An inactive service is not shown on the public page, but its history remains.

Change the order in the list with the ▲▼ arrows — services are shown to clients in the same order.

A deleted service disappears from the list, but upcoming bookings already made keep the price and duration they had when ordered.

2. Price options: "from €35", short / long hair

When the same service costs differently (by hair length, nail design, duration), add options in the service form: name, price and, if it differs, duration. Up to 12 options per service.

On the public page such a service is shown as "from €X" (the lowest option price), and the client picks a specific option when booking. In a manual booking you choose the option.

When a service has options, individual per-specialist duration and price overrides do not apply to it — the option sets the price and duration.

3. Duration, buffer and time limits

Duration is how long the service itself takes. The buffer is time after it to tidy up or catch your breath; the client does not see it, but the next booking is only possible after the buffer.

Day rule: tick the weekdays the service is offered (e.g. long procedures on weekdays only). On other days the client will not even see it in the offer.

Earliest / latest start — time limits within the day (in 30-minute steps). Minimum notice — how many hours before the visit online booking is still allowed. Horizon — up to how many days ahead (if shorter than the salon's).

4. Who performs it: assigning specialists

In the service form tick the specialists who perform it. A client who picks a service sees only them (and vice versa — picking a specialist, they see only that specialist's services).

Each specialist can have their own duration or price for the service (e.g. a senior specialist — pricier, faster). The override applies only to new bookings.

A specialist without the "edit services" permission sees the list but cannot edit it — the owner grants the permission under "Team".

5. Deposit policy — per service, not per salon

For each service separately: no deposit, a deposit (you enter an amount lower than the price) or full payment in advance. The setting appears once Stripe is connected ("Salon → Payments").

While Stripe is not connected, services with a deposit policy are not shown on the public page — the client could not pay. Deposits do not apply to manual bookings: in person or by phone you agree yourselves.

More about payments, refunds and disputes — in the article "Deposits via Stripe".
